Fulfillment
Fulfillment and Satisfaction
-Is a satisfaction or happiness as a result of fully developing one's abilities or character. The achievement of something desired, promised, or predicted: "winning the championship was the fulfillment of a childhood dream.
Everyone has dreams, however it is a sad fact that we usually fail to act on or work for them. Often, our biggest obstacle is discouragement coming from our own minds. Unfulfilled dreams are often the cause of a life feeling empty or meaningless, while working to fulfill our dreams is often one of our greatest causes of happiness.
Maslow Hierarchy of needs
Assumes that lower level needs must be satisfied or at least relatively satisfied before higher level needs become motivators.
Physiological needs
The most basic needs of any person are physiological needs, including food, water, oxygen, maintenance of body temperature, an so on. Physiological needs are the most prepotent of all.
Safety needs when people have partially satisfied their physiological needs, they become motivated by safety needs, including physical security, stability, dependency, protection, and freedom from threatening forces such as war, illness, fear, anxiety, danger and so on. The needs for low, order, and structure are also safety needs.
Love and Belongingness Needs
After people partially satisfied their physiological and safety needs, they become motivated by love and belongingness, such as the desire for friendship; the wish for a mate and children; the need to belong to a family, a club, a neighborhood, or a nation.
Esteem Needs
To the extent that people satisfy their belongingness, they are free to pursue esteem needs, which include self-respect, confidence, competence, and the knowledge that others hold them in high esteem.
Self-Actualization needs
This need we may call self-actualization...It refers to the desire for self-fulfillment, namely, to the tendency for him to become actualized in what he is potentially. This tendency might be phrased as the desire to become more and more what one is, to become everything that one is capable of becoming."
