Stress Management

How to relieve stress?

 -It may seem that there's nothing you can do about stress. Stress in family, work, school activities etc.. . And sometimes life stresses can also have a big impact to us. Examples of  life stresses are:
  • Death of a loved one
  • Divorce
  • Loss of job
  • Increase financial obligations
  • Moving to a new house
  • Having a chronic illnesses
  • Traumatic event etc....
Sometimes the stress comes from inside, rather than outside. You can stress yourself out just by worrying about things.
 Now that I'm in 3rd yr. college sometimes, I'm having a hard time to do things that i want to accomplished and it leads it to stress.

Distress

- Is the kind of stress that comes from having your well-being threatened, or from being attacked, physically or emotionally.
Characteristics of  Distress
  • Causes of anxiety concern
  • Can be short or long term
  • Is perceived as outside of our coping abilities
  • Feels unpleasant
  • Decreases performance
  • Can lead to mental and physical problems


 Eustress


-Positive stress, called eustress, on the contrary, comes from the anticipation, or the experience, of pleasurable events.
Characteristic of Eustress
  • Motivates, focuses energy
  • Is a short term
  • Is perceived as within our coping abilities
  • Feels exciting
  • Improves performance


Forms of stress relief

  1. Guided Imagery
  2. Self hypnosis
  3. Meditation
  4. Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR)
  5. Yoga
  6. Breathing exercise
  7. Playing games
  8. Laughter
  9. Talk a walk
  10. Plant some tree
  11. Time Management
  12. Eat a balanced diet
  13. Listen to music
  14. Bio feedback
  15. And serve to GOD (Always pray).



"Be positive, be upbeat." And don't have unrealistic expectations and set yourself into impossible tasks.
